Buy The cinema Tickets
买电影票

Tom is a little boy, and he is only seven years old.
汤姆是个小孩，他才7岁。
Once he goes to a cinema (电影院). It is the first time for him to go to a cinema. He buys a ticket (票) and goes in.
有一次他去电影院。对他来说是第一次去电影院。他买了张票就进去了。
But after two or three minutes he comes out, and buys the second (第二的) ticket and goes in again.
但没过两三分钟他就出来了，然后买了第二张票又进去了。
After a few minutes he comes out again and buys the third (第三的) ticket.
几分钟后他又出来买了第三张票。
Two or three minutes after that he comes out and asks for another ticket.
在他出来后的两三分钟，他又买了另外一张票。
But a girl asks him, “Why do you buy so many tickets? How many friends do you meet?”
但有一个女孩的问她：“你为什么要买那么多票啊? 你见到了几个朋友？”
“No, I have no friends here, but a woman always stops me at the door and cuts (剪) up my ticket.”
“没有，我里面没朋友，但是有一个女人总是在门口把我拦下并把我的票剪了.”

An old man died. He leaves his son a lot of money.
一位老人死了。他留给他的儿子一大笔钱。
But the son is a foolish (愚蠢的) young man, and he quickly spends (花费) all the money.
但这个儿子是个愚蠢的年轻人，他很快把钱全部花光了。
Of course, when that happens (发生), all his friends leave him.
当然，当这事发生时，他的朋友也就全都离开他了。
When he is poor and alone, he goes to see a kind (善良的), clever old man. The old man often helps people.
在他贫穷和孤独的时候，他去找一位善良、聪明的老人。这位老人经常帮助别人。
“I have no money and I have no friends.” says the young man, “What will happen to me?”

“everything will soon be all right. Wait (等待) and you will soon feel much happier.”

The young man is very glad. “Am I going to get rich again then?” he asked.

“No,” says the old man, “You will soon get used to the life of being poor and having no friends.”

A Brown Coat

Mr.Smith has a nice brown (棕色的) coat. He loves it a lot.

But his wife doesn’t like it because it’s old.

She often says, “Give it to a poor man.”

But one day, a cigarette (香烟) falls on it and makes a hole (洞) in it.

So Mrs. Smith says, “Please don’t wear it again.”

Mr Smith takes it to a tailor’s shop and says to the tailor (裁缝), “Please make another (另一个) coat like this one.”
史密斯先生把它拿到了一个裁缝店对裁缝说：“请给我做一件与这件一样的外套。”
The tailor does what he told him and makes a new coat.
裁缝按照他说的做了一件新外套。
Then the tailor makes a hole in it again with his cigarette in the same place.
然后裁缝又用他的香烟在同一个地方烧了一个洞。
The Frog And The Cow

Baby frogs went on a picnic (野餐) in the woods, getting out of the pond for the first time.

They were singing merrily (愉快地).

Suddenly, they found a cow grazing in a field.

“Oh, god! What is that?”

“It is huge!”

All of them wondered what kind of animal it was.

“Let's ask Daddy.”

They returned home in a hurry and shouted, “Daddy, we saw a strange animal.”

“What kind of animal was it?”

“It had large horns (角) on its head and its body was bigger than you.”

The father was curious (好奇的) about what the animal looked like.

“Really ? Was it bigger than my stomach?”

“Yes, much bigger than yours!”

The father frog blew up his stomach largely,

“Well, now, I'm as big as that animal, right?”

“No, you are as big as that animal's heel.”

The father puffed himself up deeply and blew up his stomach enormously.

“How about now? Am I as big as the animal, huh?”
“现在呢？现在我和那动物一样大了吧？”
“No, not even.”
“不，还是小。”
Thinking he could not be outdone, the father frog puffed up his stomach even more.
认为自己不能被超越，于是父亲又把他的肚子鼓得更大了。
The father frog's stomach was blown up as big as it could get.
青蛙爸爸的肚子已经鼓得达到极限了。
Right in this moment, the father frog's stomach burst (爆炸) with a bang.
就在这一瞬间，青蛙爸爸的肚子砰的一声爆炸了。
Mary's Canary

There once lived in a town a cute (可爱的) and pretty little girl whose name was Karen.

Because she was so poor,

she had to wear a torn dress, even walked around with bare feet in summer,
她只能穿着一件破裙子，甚至夏天的时候只能光着脚走，
and wore heavy and crude wooden (木制的) shoes in winter.
到了冬天的时候只能穿着一双又厚重又粗糙的木鞋。
Her feet were always full of scars and wounds.

“Karen, why do your feet hurt you so much? I will make a pair of shoes for you.”

An old lady who ran a shoe store made a pair of red shoes for Karen.

Those shoes were made of old pieces of cloth, and she sewed them by hand.

“Thank you, aunt.”

Karen was so happy for her new shoes which suited her, that she jumped up and down.

But, unluckily, Karen's mother passed away on that day.

After the funeral, a noblewoman saw Karen following her.

However, the noblewoman burned her dirty red shoes, put fresh new clothes on her,

let her read books and taught her how to do needlework.

“It is still too much.” replies the old lady, “If it is five dollars, I will buy it.”

A man was going to the house of some rich (富有的) person.

As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road.

He said, “I do not want to eat those apples, for the rich man will give me more food. He will give me very nice food to eat.”
他说：“我不想吃那些苹果，因为富人会给我更多的食物。他会给我很好吃的东西。”
Then he took the apples and threw (扔) them away into the dust (尘土).
然后他拿起苹果把它们扔到了土里。
He went on and came to a river (河).
他继续走，来到河边。
The river had risen, so he could not cross it.
河水涨了，因此他过不去。
He waited for some time.
他等了一会儿。
Then he said, “I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot cross the river.”
然后他说：“今天我去不了富人家了，因为我不能渡过这条河。”
He began to go home.
他开始回家。
He didn't eat no food that day.
他那天没有吃任何东西。
So he began to find food.
所以他开始寻找食物。
He came to the apples, and he was glad (高兴的) to take them out of the dust and eat them.

Do not throw good things away, you may be glad to have them at some other time.
